Scientific interests

  • host-parasite interactions, host defence mechanisms and immunopathological impact of parasitic infection
  • detection of the regulatory and effector mechanisms involved in the host immune response, focused on the lymphocyte phenotyping, the functional analysis of macrophages and lymphocytes, phagocytosis and respiratory burst activity, the role of cytokines in regulation of  inflammatory and immune responses
  • study of pathogenesis and changes in immunocompetent cell types and their cytokine production in parasitic zoonoses (alveolar echinococcosis, ascariasis, toxocarosis, trichinellosis) after immunomodulation and treatment
