  • molecular taxonomy, population genetics and biogeography of parasitic organisms, especially trematodes and cestodes.
  • determination of origin and migratory routes of invasive parasites
  • design of species-specific DNA markers (e.g. spacers and subunits of ribosomal DNA, and genes of mitochondrial DNA) applicable in molecular taxonomy and diagnostics
  • design of microsatellites and their application in population genetics of model parasites
